Did you ever notice when you watch a Professional Golfer on TV they do the exact same thing prior to every shot? A good pre-shot routine is an effective method of improving your focus on the shot at hand. Although the pre-shot routine is very individual, a few things you may want to include are alignment, target, shot visualization and number of practice swings prior to hitting the ball. Take some time at the range and practice your routine on every shot. Practicing with a purpose will allow you ingrain your routine and transfer it to the golf course. Once you have established a comfortable pre-shot routine you will begin to notice improvement in your consistency and scores.

8 out of 10 amateur golfers hit iron shots short of the pin on a regular basis when hitting approach shots. What needs to be considered is that even though you may hit your nine iron 140 yards when you swing hard and hit it on the sweet spot, a high percentage of shots that are hit on the course are not hit this way. Let?s try our best to hit the club that is going to get the ball to the hole even on slightly off centered hits rather that hit the club that will only get to the hole if you kill it.
